Implementation of a CSR (Corporate
Social Responsibility) program to promote sustainable development in
the flavors, fragrance, and cosmetics industry in the P.AC.A region:
This collective action, initiated by the Club des Entrepreneurs, pertains to VSEs and SME in the flavors, fragrance, and cosmetics industries located in the P.A.C.A. region.
The principal theme of the CENTIFOLIA 2006 congress was the concept of sustainable development and a commitment to a CSR policy in the industry’s businesses. In a continuation of the work achieved at this congress, local companies decided to anticipate the demands of their principals and/or their investors. Their clients would require that suppliers meet certain criteria of acceptability in collaboration with other organized industry actors, and to go beyond vague declarations or statements of good intentions. Their investors would be increasingly anxious to develop policies and corporate cultures based on transparency, social responsibility, fair trade, and continued progress in CSR actions. The principals are readying themselves. In the end, those who do not fall in step with the CSR tide will be penalized.
Too small to face such issues alone, industry VSEs and SMEs can transform these seeming obstacles into opportunities through collective actions which support sharing methods, solutions, and means.
This experimental undertaking involves integrating CSR commitments into the business strategy of these companies as a key differentiation factor, the objective being to reinforce the competitiveness of the participating businesses.
